Thursday, April 02
1:30pm - 2:30pm

Storytelling Drawing Sessions give artists a chance to engage in the stories of long-term residents of Indianapolis. While community members share their stories, artists listen and reflect as they hone their skills. Artists of all skill levels and mediums are welcome to participate.

Everyone has a story to tell. Join Greatriarchs featured in the Polklore Micro-Museum at your local library branch, and create while being inspired by neighborhood history and fantastic people!

Storytelling Drawing Sessions use long-term residents as models to get to know their stories. Artists are welcome to create in whatever medium they prefer (ink, writing, crocheting, painting), and are encouraged to bring their own supplies - but a limited amount of supplies will be available at the library.

This program is being offered in partnership with the Harrison Center

About the branch

The Spades Park Branch was built with funds from a $120,000 grant by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912, six months after the opening of the city’s other remaining Carnegie Library, the East Washington Branch. The 7,500-square-foot branch underwent a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012.
