Join the branch in celebrating the new artwork above our fireplace!
Spades Park Branch has a rich neighborhood history. Patrons and staff will see new artwork over the fireplace that represents that rich history. The new mural was painted by Jarrod Stone, local Indy artist. The painting will feature imagery from the Feast of Lanterns, Ann Barnes (longtime Spades Park Branch employee), reading, children from the surrounding area, as well as the beloved historic building.
We will have some activities and a neighborhood art project to help with.
The Spades Park Branch was built with funds from a $120,000 grant by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912, six months after the opening of the city’s other remaining Carnegie Library, the East Washington Branch. The 7,500-square-foot branch underwent a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2012.
