Circulating Sound Concert

featuring the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis

Join us for a concert featuring the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis. This live hour of music will fill the Clowes Auditorium with music inspired by stories and tales and will be a special treat for families and music lovers of all ages!

The Indianapolis Philharmonic, an all-volunteer community orchestra, presents a one-hour Saturday afternoon concert that is free and open to the public.  Featured on the program will be light classics and some children's favorites, including music from Bluey and How to Train Your Dragon.  Also on the program will be instrument demonstrations, music from Grieg's Peer Gynt, Haydn's Toy Symphony, the Scherzo from William Grant Still's Afro-American Symphony and Copland's Hoe Down from Rodeo.

The Circulating Sound Concert series features live music at Central Library and at branches throughout the system. Join us for concerts featuring local artists performing a variety of musical styles, genres, and communities in Marion County.  Learn about concerts at other locations.

About the branch

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
