Reading Ready Time is a virtual library experience specifically designed to help children 3-6 years old get ready to read and connect with the Library.  We hope this program will help them make a connection, building on their path to becoming lifelong learners. In this week's episode, Let's Go!  A Visit to the Statehouse, we travel downtown to explore the Indiana Capitol Building. We explore spaces and learn a little about our state government. Other Reading Ready Time episodes can be found on our YouTube channel

Additional resources :

  • Children hear grown-ups talking about voting and elections. Finding a developmentally appropriate way to explain this to young children can be a challenge.  This blog post has some fun and simple activities to try as well as some video links.
  • Illinois Early Learning Project offers a nice guide on how to talk to children about being a citizen.
  • PBS kids has wonderful developmentally appropriate games and resources.  This search has lots of great civics-related lessons and materials
