Are you ready to dive into the powerful stories that shape our world? We invite you to join the Soulful Pages Book Club as we dive into this month’s featured read: "The Maid and the Crocodile" by Jordan Ifueko.

We meet every third Monday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM inside the CBLC at Central Library. All are welcome!

About the Book:
The Maid and the Crocodile is a spellbinding short story by Jordan Ifueko, acclaimed author of Raybearer. This West African-inspired tale follows a clever maid with magical abilities who must navigate a palace filled with secrets, schemes, and dangerous magic. When a mysterious crocodile offers an unusual alliance, she must decide whether to risk everything for freedom, justice, and the chance to change her fate. Filled with intrigue, magic, and heart, this story is a powerful exploration of identity, courage, and transformation.

About the branch

As the hub of the Indianapolis Public Library system, Central Library showcases renowned architecture and services. The original 1917 building, designed by Paul Cret and constructed of Indiana limestone in the Greek Doric style, was considered one of the most outstanding secular buildings in the U.S. Its six-story glass and steel-framed addition, designed by Evans Woollen, opened in 2007.
