Join us on May 31 for our Summer Reading Kick-Off Party! From 11 am to 2 pm, you can play games, hear stories, get your face painted like a dinosaur, explore real fossils, and more, but the extra special time to be here is 12 - 1 pm! Rowdie, Circle City's favorite baseball-nosed bear, and our very own Booker the Book, will be here to help officially kick off the Summer Reading Program! While you're here, you can also register for the program, pick up your trackers, get a sneak-peek at prizes, and stock up on your first round of books to start counting those reading hours! Be here from 12 - 1 pm - bring the whole family, bring your friends - to kick off Summer Reading 2025 and UNEARTH YOUR IMAGINATION with your community, your librarians, and - of course - Rowdie and Booker!

Established as the Broadway Branch in 1924, the library served the neighborhood from a frame house on E. 42nd Street until 1958 when a 6,500-square-foot facility opened on Broadway Street. This aging and overcrowded building was replaced in August 2000 with the current 16,000-square-foot structure on College Avenue that was renamed the College Avenue Branch.
