Young children and their families are invited to an introduction to the orchestra through story, movement and live music. Teddy bears welcome! Space is limited.
The Big Note is the story of a young boy’s search through a symphony orchestra to find a big note he hears at a concert. The Big Note introduces the flute, violin, viola, bassoon, and tuba. These five instruments are part of the string, woodwind, and brass sections of the symphony orchestra. Musical selections include excerpts from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Flight of the Bumblebee, Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 – Ode to Joy.

Decatur was the first township outside of Center Township to receive a branch library when the Marwood Branch opened in 1967 in a storefront location. Strong library usage throughout the township demonstrated the need for a new 11,300-square-foot branch that opened on Kentucky Avenue in 1990 as the Decatur Branch and continues to serve the community today.
