Reading Ready Time - Let's Go!
A Trip to the State House
Wednesday, October 30
All day
Children 3-6 are invited to a virtual Library visit! Join us for a storytime all about books. Take a trip with us to the Indiana State House! Join us as we explore concepts of community and citizenship, like following rules and voting.
Talking with children about sharing, cooperation, and respect for others helps children feel connected and encourages them to be caring, responsible citizens as they grow.
Visit our YouTube channel to watch this program.
Reading Ready Time is a virtual library experience specifically designed to help children 3-6 years old get ready to read and connect with the Library. Programs will be available for a limited time following the premiere on our YouTube channel.
Additional resources to enhance learning:
- Children hear grown-ups talking about voting and elections. Finding a developmentally appropriate way to explain this to young children can be a challenge. This blog post has some fun and simple activities to try as well as some video links.
- Illinois Early Learning Project offers a nice guide on how to talk to children about being a citizen.

Online
This is not a real library branch - this is the "location" for our events that occur online. Online events that take place on Zoom should all involve registration and a link will be emailed to participants. Other online events may occur on YouTube or Facebook, and will not require registration.
